Introduction to Connective Tissue Release: Two Day Advanced Course
Connective Tissue Release (CTR) — The Heart of Myofascial Healing
Connective Tissue Release (CTR) — also known as myofascial release — is a proven and transformative bodywork method taught exclusively at KCR Academy through our Introduction to CTR, CTR 1, and CTR 2 courses.
Our unique, heart-centred approach blends science with intuition, helping therapists feel, sense, and release tension at a deeper level. Students often describe it as “the best way to truly understand and experience myofascial release.”
CTR offers a profound paradigm shift in how practitioners connect with the body — expanding awareness, restoring flow, and creating lasting change for both therapist and client.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Introduction to Connective Tissue is the Second Foundation Course on the Pathway to Bodywork Mastery
Introduction to Connective Tissue Release is the second required Foundation Course on the KCR Pathway to Bodywork Mastery
Connective Tissue Release (CTR) (The Hugh Gilbert Method TM) — also known as myofascial release — is a highly effective bodywork technique that helps clients relieve chronic pain, release restrictions, improve posture, and restore natural movement.
At KCR Academy, we offer three unique courses — Introduction to CTR, CTR 1, and CTR 2 — designed for massage therapists, bodyworkers, sports therapists, and health professionals who want to expand their skills and deliver lasting results.
What sets our training apart is the combination of science-backed techniques with a heart-centred approach. Students learn to establish heart coherence with clients and practice intuitive methods that unlock deeper levels of healing. Many practitioners describe CTR as a complete paradigm shift that transforms their practice and makes sense of myofascial release for the first time. Join us to elevate your skills and create real impact in your clients’ lives.
This foundation course introduces insights and modalities which will be built upon and developed in the advanced and extended courses of the Pathway to Bodywork Mastery.

What is CTR?
Connective Tissue Release (CTR) — also known as myofascial release — is a powerful bodywork approach designed to free restrictions in the connective tissue and restore natural movement, balance, and wellbeing.
At KCR Academy, our three unique courses (Introduction to Connective Tissue Release, CTR 1, and CTR 2) have been described by experienced therapists as “the first time myofascial release truly made sense.”
What sets our CTR training apart is our heart-centred teaching method: we guide practitioners to establish heart coherence with their clients and to develop intuitive techniques that transform the way they work.
For many therapists trained in conventional or medically based approaches, CTR offers a paradigm shift — blending science, skill, and heart in a way that is both deeply effective and profoundly human.
