Connective Tissue Release 2 is the Final Practical Course We Offer in this Discipline
COURSE OVERVIEW
This is the final of two practical courses we offer in Connective Tissue Release – the Hugh Gilbert Method™.
Connective Tissue Release (CTR), often called myofascial release, is a powerful technique for massage therapists, bodyworkers, and health professionals who want to help clients overcome pain, improve mobility, and enhance wellbeing. At KCR Academy, our CTR 1, and CTR 2 courses combine science with a heart-centred, intuitive approach that transforms practice and delivers lasting results.
In this 2-day course you will receive fourteen hours of hands-on training in accessing planes of fascia not usually addressed in traditional myofascial or connective tissue release work.
Our Connective Tissue Release 1 course provides a powerful set of releases which can be used to treat a range of symptoms that may remain unresolved by KCR. Over the duration of the two-part course, you will receive a comprehensive toolkit for addressing a diverse set of conditions.
You also will be trained how to make informed selections for which techniques should be chosen in various situation. Taught in a classroom setting, you will directly experience the benefits of these techniques.

NB: Introduction to Connective Tissue and Connective Tissue Release 1 must be completed prior to Connective Tissue Release 2.
Entry Requirements: KCR & Introduction to Connective Tissue
Course Duration: Two Days (14 hands-on hours)
Qualification Obtained: Certificate of Completion of Connective Tissue Release enabling full, immediate implementation.
The Course Teaches: Our Connective Tissue Release courses cumulatively prepare you as a practitioner to assist those who have not yet achieved full resolution of symptoms through the application of the Kinetic Chain Release protocol alone.
You will learn releases specific to the ankles, knees, pelvis, spine and chest, and many more over the two courses.
Although not all clients will require this work, it is nevertheless an exceptional skill set to have available in your toolkit for situations where further intervention is needed.
Connective Tissue Release is KCR Academy’s name for an advanced set of techniques based on myofascial release work.
These were developed over many years by Hugh Gilbert and his eventual body of work is so extensive it has to be taught over two courses.
The general definition for Myofascial release is: ‘an alternative medicine therapy useful for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.’

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is CTR2 designed for?
CTR2 is for practitioners who have successfully completed CTR1 and are ready to work with more advanced, layered, and complex connective tissue patterns.
By this stage, you are no longer just applying techniques — you are developing clinical judgement and strategic sequencing.
How is CTR2 different from CTR1?
CTR1 gives you advanced tools.
CTR2 completes the suite of skills and teaches you when, why, and how to use them in more intricate presentations.
The focus moves toward deeper pattern resolution, secondary and tertiary compensations, and refined integration within the whole body.
It is less about learning “more techniques” and more about mastering application.
I have no previous (bodywork) experience, can I take the class?
Before taking this course you will need to complete KCR Foundation Level 1, Introduction to Connective Tissue and Connective Tissue Release Level 1.
What kind of clients is CTR2 particularly useful for?
CTR2 is especially valuable when working with:
• Long-standing structural adaptations
• Recurrent patterns that do not fully resolve
• Complex postural presentations
• Clients who have plateaued with previous work
It gives you options when simpler strategies are no longer enough.
Is CTR2 physically demanding?
No.
As with all work within the Hugh Gilbert Method™, precision, awareness, and intelligent positioning replace force.
CTR2 refines your efficiency. Your hands become quieter, not heavier.
Will CTR2 change how I practice?
Most practitioners report a noticeable shift in confidence and clarity.
CTR2 often marks the point where practitioners begin to feel truly autonomous — able to assess, prioritise, and respond intuitively within sessions while staying grounded in structure and logic.
Is CTR2 the final stage of training?
CTR2 completes the core Connective Tissue Release pathway within the Academy.
From here, practitioners may choose to deepen further into specialist areas within the Pathway to Bodywork Mastery — such as Postural Energetics, Women’s Health, or advanced integration work.
CTR2 is not the end — but it is a milestone.
Do I need to feel “ready” before enrolling?
f you have completed CTR1 and are actively using the work in practice, you are likely ready.
CTR2 is about refinement, not perfection. You grow into it.
What do I need to bring and wear for the class?
Please bring pen and paper but do not permit electronic devices to be used in class. Wear loose comfortable clothing such as exercise wear. Denim jeans and dresses are not suitable.
Is lunch provided?
We provided tea, coffee, water and biscuits during breaks. There are many nearby options for purchasing lunch – or bring a bagged lunch to eat in the Academy. We do not have kitchen facilities.
